The Self Welfare Women Association (SWWA) is an initiative dedicated to empowering women, particularly mothers, by forming self-help groups and enhancing their capabilities through skill development training and awareness programs. The model focuses on building a support network for women to collaboratively address pressing issues related to child health, nutrition, and pre and postnatal care.

Self Welfare Women Association

Our Mission :

SWWA aims to:

  • Create self-help groups of mothers to foster collective action.
  • Build the capacity of these groups through skill-based training and educational sessions.
  • Collaborate with local health workers to tackle issues like malnutrition, prenatal and postnatal care, and general child welfare.

Our Model : The SWWA framework operates through a systematic approach:

  1. Identify Women: The first step is to identify mothers in need of support and opportunities for capacity building.
  2. Form a Group: Once identified, these women are brought together to form self-help groups, which function as a collaborative unit.
  3. Three Core Activities :
      • Skill-based Training : Providing hands-on training to enhance the women’s abilities and empower them to generate income or support their families.
      • Collaborative Activities with AAA: The association works closely with Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives). This collaboration brings all representatives to a common platform to address children’s health, nutrition, and other welfare concerns.
      • Awareness Activities: Regular awareness sessions are conducted, focusing on maternal and child health, emphasizing pre and postnatal care, and educating women on proper nutrition and healthcare practices.
Why SWWA?  SWWA empowers mothers to become self-sufficient while ensuring a strong network of health support through partnerships with local health workers. By focusing on both skill-building and health awareness, the initiative helps improve the lives of women and their children, contributing to healthier communities. This integrated approach not only supports the personal growth of women but also strengthens community ties by ensuring joint efforts to address issues that affect children’s well-being.
